Introduction:

Valve amplifiers have been around for decades and are still preferred by many audiophiles for their warm and natural sound. However, traditional valve amplifiers are limited in terms of control options as they rely on manual potentiometers for tone, gain, and volume controls. To overcome this limitation, we present a wireless control valve amplifier design that replaces manual controls with a digital circuit that allows for automatic parameter adjustments.

 


Amplifier Design:

We started with a high-gain valve amplifier circuit and modified it to include a digital control circuit. The digital circuit controls tone, equalization, gain, and volume. We replaced manual potentiometers with digital controls that allow for more precise adjustments. The control circuit is powered by a memory EEPROM that stores different configurations, even after the amplifier is turned off.

 

Wireless Control Device:

To control the amplifier wirelessly, we designed a footswitch device that allows users to modify all amplifier controls remotely. The footswitch device features push buttons that wirelessly communicate with the digital control circuit. The device also includes an EEPROM memory that stores different settings for convenience.
